Introduction to the MBBG group

The Mind, Brain Behaviour Group is a group of clinical and basic science researchers from the Division of Psychiatry, School of Community Health Sciences, University of Nottingham, who investigate the mental and neuronal mechanisms of mental disorders with the goal of increasing understandings of the nature of these disorders, improving the reliability of diagnosis and enhancing treatment. The research of the group focuses on interactions between neurobiological, psychological and social development throughout the lifespan. The techniques employed include clinical observation; brain imaging with MRI and fMRI; EEG; and cognitive psychology.

Members of the Mind, Brain Behaviour Group play a central role in the Mind, Brain and Developmental Sciences Section of the Institute of Mental Health, which was established in November 2006 as a joint Institute of the University of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust to promote collaboration between neuroscientists, psychologists, social scientists and clinicians in research that will lead directly to patient benefit.

Members of the group collaborate with researchers sharing similar interests in the Nottingham Neuroscience Institute and the Brain & Body Centre; and participate in multi-centre projects via the Mental Health Research Network and in international collaborations.
